Teaching American English Pronunciation
This book is a comprehensive introduction to teaching the pronunciation of North American English. Part One contains an illustrated description of the sound system of English. In Part Two, the authors provide ideas for overcoming common pronunciation problems. There are sections devoted to the specific problems of speakers of fifteen different languages from a wide range of language groups. Part Three gives numerous useful classroom techniques to help teachers improve their pupils' pronunciation effectively. The book includes exercises, a glossary, and an index.
